District 2
“People of” Organizations
Information for District 2 Homeowners Association and Neighborhood members about their local community action groups
Vision & Principles
Becoming communities which “meld together in an inclusive society of opportunity.”
What is the vision of these area activity organizations?
These advocacy and project-based organization desire to partner with their local municipality to develop complete and sustainable communities. Neighborhoods and “areas” should experience the following benefits: safety, economic stability, affordability, quality infrastructure, sustainability, and social cohesion.
What is the structure of these organizations?
Each organization receives support from Cmsr. Moore. The groups have or will have independently elected boards and meetings. They meet quarterly with the commissioner and other People of organizations for strategic planning, Corridor of the Year, development, and training.
What are the monthly meetings like?
The independent monthly meetings focus on educational programs from model HOAs, local businesses, and county staff. Planning, programs, and activities are derived from a strategic plan updated annually during January. The groups focus on building “third places” – such as mural, parks, trails, etc. They advocate for mutual interests such as attracting new retail, medical, or other missing amenities. They host monthly trash clean-ups, entranceway improvements, or corridor improvement projects.
Who is likely to want to become a member of one of these organizations?
Homeowner association boards, engaged residents, local business owners, faith-based members, and other elected officials.
